Overview

We believe  that all students can learn and achieve high and academic standards. All students are entitled to an  active/creative  early childhood  education. Our program will develop a community of lifelong learners, creative thinkers, and responsible individuals by providing innovative and quality educational program in a safe and supportive environment.  Active learning encourages children to solve their everyday intellectual, social, and physical problems and to assume a measure of control over their environment. We empower parents by involving them as partners with teachers in supporting their children’s development.

We are committed to provide each child with a quality early childhood experience and an outstanding opportunity to achieve academic excellence in an environment which fosters a strong sense of community. We strive to create a safe, nurturing and developmentally appropriate environment which fosters individual needs. Students are thoroughly prepared through a stimulating and engaging academic curriculum, an outstanding faculty and small class size. We believe in empowering children by offering them opportunities to make decisions/ solve problems.

Curriculum:

Our Early Childhood program provides an engaging curriculum that integrates instruction through developmental domains and early learning disciplines following the guidelines of the NYS Common Core Standards. The New York State Prekindergarten Foundation for the Common Core has organized five broad developmental and interrelated domains:

  • Approaches to learning
  • Physical development and health
  • Social and emotional development
  • Communication language and literacy
  • Cognition and knowledge of the world

Approaches to Learning– How children become involved in learning and acquiring knowledge.

Physical Development and Health – Children’s physical health and ability to engage in daily activities.

Social and Emotional Development – The emotional competence and ability to form positive relationships that give meaning to children’s experiences in the home, school, and larger community.

Communication, Language, and Literacy – How children understand, create, and communicate meaning.

Cognition and Knowledge of the World – What children need to know and understand about their world and how they apply what they know. This domain is a direct reflection of the content competencies and knowledge of the Common Core Learning Standards.

Classrooms are led by New York State certified teachers, who provide developmentally appropriate practices that will help nurture your child’s learning through hands-on creative play and equip your child with the basic skills necessary for success.

The philosophy of our Curriculum is that young children learn best by doing. They believe that all children learn through active exploration of their environment and therefore the environment plays a critical role in learning. The goal is to help children become independent, self-confident, inquisitive and enthusiastic learners by actively exploring their environment.

The planned activities for the children, the organization of the environment, the selection of toys and materials, planning the daily schedule and interacting with the children, are all designed to accomplish the goals and objectives of the curriculum and give your child a successful learning experience.
The learning environment is arranged into ten interest areas to create a positive atmosphere.

  1. Art
  2. Music and Movement
  3. Discovery (Science)
  4. Outdoors
  5. Dramatic Play (Theater)
  6. Toys and Games (Manipulative)
  7. Technology
  8. Library (Quiet Area)
  9. Sand and Water
  10. Blocks

The richer the environments, the more concrete opportunities there are for children to learn by interacting with materials and people. The teacher’s role is to create an environment that invites children to observe, to be active, to make choices, and to experiment.
