All of our rooms have cleaning schedules for different areas of the classroom throughout the day. If a teacher sees a child cough, sneeze or put a toy in their mouth the toy goes directly into the sink in the classroom to be cleaned and sanitized. We follow the NYC DOH guidelines.
In order to keep our children, their families and our staff as healthy as possible, we require that any child with a fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or contagious disease be kept at home.
Parents are welcome at all times at the preschool. The parents are also contacted by email or phone call or written note. In addition, we provide a monthly newsletter to share news, event information, and other notes with our families.
In order to protect your child, we require that you provide in writing the names of any individual who has permission to pick up your child. We require advance writing notice from you when someone other than a family member will be picking up your child and will check identification. If we have any questions or concerns, we ask that you be available via cell phone to provide confirmation.
Your child’s safety is important to us at Plato. Our facilities and outdoor play areas have secure entries and exits that are carefully maintained and monitored by security cameras. All employees have undergone thorough background checks prior to employment. We have a secure building and are monitored by security cameras.
We are a nut-free facility. Yes! We utilized an outside vendor that prepares nutritious, home-cooked meals and snacks for children. Our weekly menus are provided by the school and posted in every classroom weekly. Parents provide an afternoon snack for their child.
Yes, for each classroom, each student will have their own cubbies for their belongings.
Due to the high number of children with peanut allergies, we do not serve peanut products. If your child has a specific allergy, please list them on our dietary restriction letter so that we can make appropriate food substitutions.
Yes, weather permitting, we take children outside daily. Children should be dressed appropriately for playing on our playground or taking group walks.
